THE HISTORIC BERKELEY MANSION – KENWOOD

Single Family Residence circa 1893 - Landmark Restoration Project

Built in the late 1800’s, this extraordinary corner residence was constructed as custom home for the very wealthy. Designed within the Richardsonian Romanesque architectural style, the structure’s characteristics include heavy, rock-faced stone, semicircular masonry arches, transom windows, square tower, and colonial roof.

Designated a City of Chicago Landmark in 1993, the home has since been condemned following years of neglect. With collaboration from our client, REM Architecture, The City of Chicago Department of Landmarks, and our team, we will begin restoring this residence this summer. Scope of work includes exterior preservation, complete gut, and interior rebuild.

Once complete, this 4 story 5000 square foot Landmark will feature extensive millwork throughout, a gracious floor plan, finished basement, 5 bedrooms, 5 bathrooms, 3 family rooms and all the amenities of a newly constructed home.
